Story

My sister, Claire, was diagnosed with Niemann Pick Disease Type C a rare fatal life limiting  illness at the age of 14. Claire fought the disease day after day after day until she passed away at the age of 20.

Niemann Pick Type C is an inherited metabolic storage disorder. Children are born normally and develop normally until cholesterol and lipids starts to accumulate in the brain cells and destroy them. This causes damage and loss of mobility and memory. Niemann Pick Type C is always fatal, the vast majority of children die before age 20, most before the age of 10.

There are currently 90 individuals within the UK who are battling this cruel disease. There is currently no cure for the disease. For more information please visit www.niemann-pick.org.uk

Niemann Pick Disease Group UK provides support, help and information to families as well as vital research into a cure. They are more like a family than a charity and without them Niemann Pick families would not be as strong as they are today. Thank you for your generosity and support. Please share this page with your friends and family, it's not just about the money, it's about raising awareness of the disease too !!
