Story
Those of you who know me will be aware that a run a bit! I've been training for the Harmoors 110 on the 1st June for many months now. I had always intended to raise money for Women's Health Advice Centre but I have been reluctant to start until I knew I'd be able to take on the run.
With only 3 weeks to go I feel that I stand some chance of getting round the 114 mile course. The route follows the Cleveland Way from Filey across the North Yorkshire Moors to Saltburn and then tracks the coast down to finish at Helmsley. Details of the run are on the hardmoors website.
The run sarts a 5pm on Friday 1st June and competitors don't stop running until they cross the finish line or collapse! I've run this race once before in 2010 and it took 30 hours of no stop running (only 11 out of 33 starters finished). I hope to knock a few hours off this time but finishing will be my main aim.
The run itself is best desribed as painful, after crossing the moors and after about 80 miles the track starts to follow the cliff tops up and down as each burn reaches the coast. At the 100 mile mark I'll only have a half marathon to do to reach the finish, I'm not quite sure I'm looking forward to that stage of the run.
I'll put in every ounce of energy and mental grit that I can muster, all I ask of you is for your support, this will not only give me cause to keep moving, but donations you make will have a hugly positive impact for those that benefit.
Please look at the WHAC website, the organisation is truly fantastic. The support they are able to offer people is in many cases life changing. I have been able to work with WHAC to help give family law advice in my role as a solicitor working for the charity Dawn (Advice) Ltd. I have huge respect for the work WHAC do and their dedicated staff. I would ask that you donate and help them carry on their good work.
