Story
Here I go again! Those of you with good memories will recall that in 2007 I cycled across Death Valley and in 2009 I cycled across Vietnam and Cambodia for charity – but now I’m going to try something really mad – my biggest challenge yet…
Its 2012 – Olympic year, so I am going to try and cycle from the original Olympic stadium in Athens to the new Olympic park in London! That’s just about 2012 miles.
I’m aiming to take May 2012 off work to attempt this challenge – to raise awareness and funds for two fantastic local charities, the Milton Keynes Community Foundation ( of which I’m privileged to be an ambassador ) and my local Willen Hospice.
I’ve set a target of £12,000 pounds – see the theme here….
2012 miles in 2012 to raise 12,000 pounds.. good eh!
However, I need your help – I’m cycling on my own, no organised group, just me and a support vehicle with a friendly driver who will recce the route as I go and keep an eye out for me and my bike. The route is outlined below: Greece, Italy, over the Alps into France and across into Great Britain and up into Stratford and the Olympic Park. I’m aiming to cycle approx. 65 miles every day, so it should take me just about 30 days.
This challenge is nuts!, I know, you know it, but I’m willing to try… but I need your money.
Please help – all donations are welcome and will go 100% to the charities. Thanks in advance, please dig deep….
