Story
The purpose of this challenge is to raise as much money as possible for Endometriosis UK.
Endometriosis has significantly affected the lives of Mark and his wife over the last nine months, they have had an ongoing battle to regain some normality after Laura was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometriosis, which is the most severe stage of this condition.
Laura has already undergone 2 operations to treat her symptoms over the last 3 years and is having a further operation at the end of July to continue with her treatment. Endometriosis UK is a charity which supports women who are dealing with this condition on a daily basis and also helps to raise awareness too. Part of the battle for them has been trying to understand the challenges they now face on a day to day basis and also in planning for the future, raising awareness of Endometriosis we hope will at least help someone who is going through this in the future to have more information and help available to them.
The row will begin at 7pm on Thursday 25th August and will be completed at 7pm on 28th August. Our team of five will have a full 3 days or 72 hours of continuous rowing. The aim in these 3 days is to row the equivalent of 20 marathons between us. Only a mere 843,900 meters in total which works out as 56,260 metres each per day, AT LEAST! As a party we have already agreed that we aim to beat this target and get as close as we can to 1 million meters!
During the time of the event, none of the 5 in the team can leave the gym (the event is being held at Crossfit Leyland). The gym plan on holding a few events to coincide with our row, such as a BBQ on the Sunday Afternoon and ‘open to all' training event on the Saturday so that everybody can come down and support while we take on this task.
All proceeds raised will be going to Endometriosis UK
