Hello
Thank you for taking a look at this very special and personal fundraising page
My name is Emma and Im a local mum from Walmley Sutton Coldfield. This past year I have faced a rather large mountain to climb! I received the diagnosis of stage 4 secondary breast cancer which had sadly spread to my ribs and my lower back. We were devastated when my breast surgeon claimed it was severe and inoperable. Imagine being told that news at age 48 years old that your future was incredibly uncertain and with three daughters and a wonderful husband I knew we had a challenge on our hands. Its taken a few months to get our head around all of this and now I face permanent chemotherapy, and regular hospital visits to Good Hope hospital.
My biggest challenge has been trying to maintain normality in a busy family home, this is practically and emotionally. Firstly The Boldmere Bullets cycling club have been responsible for helping to maintain my husband Kevin’s well being and sense of humour!
Through your friendship and the physical challenge of weekly cycle rides Kev has managed to keep a smile on his face, thank you guys and gals. However we have also benefited greatly from the immense practical support given by the amazing Sutton Coldfield charity BREAST FRIENDS.
The Breast Friends Charity has given us hands on practical help in the home whilst I face the demands of energy sapping treatment. Our cleaning and ironing have been taken care of by the ladies from Breast Friends and as any mother knows when her house is in order then the rest of her world is a little more manageable!
Breast Friends not only offer practical help they offer the type of support that enables a family to face the future whatever that may look like, from specialist equipment in the home to friendship groups, engaging with local health professionals through to pamper sessions and regular talks from experts in the field of breast cancer. Their kindness and generosity is unbelievable and we are extremely grateful to Jacke Benzecry and her team.
So to raise the much needed funds to enable this charity to function The Boldmere Bullets are doing a bike ride from Barmouth to Great Yarmouth, this is to be completed in an amazing 24 hours! Not for the faint hearted and one that will most definitely challenge any Bullett taking part. Lets hope Kev is still smiling at the end of it! Barmouth to Great Yarmouth is 300 miles long, this challenge has attracted a team of 12 guys who are giving of their time and energy to support not only Breast Friends but to us as a family too. We recognise the sacrifice being given and are truly grateful. So please would you consider donating as much as you can afford, the charity need to keep on giving to our local ladies as sadly this illness is on the increase. Please dig deep and give online to this Just Giving page to bring support to all Breast cancer ladies across Sutton Coldfield.
With our deepest thanks
From all the Borg Family xx
