Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  In 2010, I completed the North Pole Marathon in aid of The Elizabeth Foundation, a local charity supporting deaf children.  During 2011, I began an attempt to complete 30 Marathons in 30 consecutive weeks in celebration of the charity's 30th Anniversary.  Like most things this escalated and I ended up managing 54 marathons.  It didn't seem appropriate to stop running in our very own Olympic year, so I've kept on going and recently passed through 70 marathons in 70 weeks.  This year I'll attempt events such as the Quadzilla 4 in 4 days, Himalaya 5 in 5 days, Thames Trot 50miler, London to Brighton 62miler and in August the Centurion 100 mile continuous footrace across the North Downs, with the aim of finishing in under 24 hours.  All being well I should complete my 100th actual marathon in July and my 100 in 100 weeks by December 2012!

Please sponsor me for a great charity!

Founded in Sept 1981 by the parents of Elizabeth, The Elizabeth Foundation (www.elizabeth-foundation.org) helps over 50 families each year at their Family Centre in Portsmouth.  Each deaf child is encouraged to lip-read, listen and speak with the use of their hearing aids.  I have visited the Centre and just wanted to support this unique pre-school, and I hope you will support me by sponsoring me.  Every penny/pound counts, so please sponsor me now!    Rik
