Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are aiming to climb three peaks in 24 hours (Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales) on 23rd of April and are raising funds for a fantastic charity- Action on Postpartum Psychosis in memory of lovely Lise Russell.
Lise, died suddenly and unexpectedly on the 20th November. She took her own life during an overwhelming menopausal psychotic episode. This was a recurrence of Postpartum Psychosis, an illness that she suffered from many years ago following the births of her two children.
Postpartum Psychosis (PP) is a severe mental illness which begins suddenly following childbirth. Over 1400 women experience PP each year in the UK (1 to 2 in every 1000 mothers). An episode of PP can be very frightening for women and their families. Most women go on to make a full recovery, however the journey to full recovery can be long and difficult.
Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) is a collaborative project between: women and families with personal experience of PP; world leading academics who research PP; and health professionals who support women and families during and after an episode.
