Story

In November 2015, Debbie Hollely (mother to Nick and aunty to Davy) got terrible news. She had two forms of cancer. Since then, Debbie has had 2.5 months of chemotherapy and two operations including an emergency surgery to remove one of the cancers. On July 4th 2016 she faces yet another operation to remove the remaining cancer. In this period of respite between operations, Nick, Davy and Sam are going to attempt the 24hr Three Peaks Challenge in aid of the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust.

Debbie has shown amazing amounts of courage and bravery throughout this ordeal and serves as an inspiration to all who know her.

One of the hardest times through the illness was the period in which Debbie was having chemotherapy. Though it was tough, it was made easier as the staff and volunteers of Fortuneswell Ward in Dorset County Hospital (DCH) were fantastic. They were at the end of the phone literally 24/7 with advice and guidance or caring for her as an in-patient.

This hiking challenge requires Nick, Davy and Sam to climb the highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) within 24 hours including travel time between mountains. They will be supported by family friend Tom Waterson and his girlfriend Crystal who will do the driving.

Any money raised will go directly to the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust whose aim it is to improve cancer treatment facilities at DCH as well as providing services for patients to make their treatment more bearable.
