We are raising money for Tiny Lives which is a Neonatal Unit at the R.V.I. in Newcastle upon Tyne, the unit specializes in saving babies lives. Every year, 600 premature or ill newborn babies are admitted to the hospital from across the North East, with up to 36 babies being looked after at any one time. Our Son Charlie was born on 30th September 2010 at gestation of just 24 weeks; he weighed just 1lb6oz and was looked after by the Neonatal unit for 6 months before he came home. The unit and nurses were excellent during the time Charlie was in hospital and the charity provides everything from tiny Nappies, clothes, parking permits and food to presents for family and siblings on special days (birthdays, Christmas etc.) none of this is provided by NHS and this is very welcome when your child is new into the world. Charlie has been our little miracle and a real fighter who has come through so many problems that have been thrown at him, the Neonatal unit also deals with a lot of sadness of babies that don’t make it through their own little battles, the Neonatal team spend a lot of time with parents supporting them through the very difficult and emotional times offering guidance and support.
This wonderful charity also organises an annual Christmas reunion for all babies who have been in the unit over the past 12 months or would like to reunite with old friends. This annual festive event includes entertainment, stocking fillers and a chance to meet Santa all funded by the Charity
We have decided to raise money for this excellent organization by walking up Ben Nevis 1344 meters (Scotland), Scafell pike 978 meters (England) & Snowdon 1085 meters (Wales) within 24 hours. This is not an easy task for a lot of unfit 30ish year olds:-) but we are committed now and looking forward to it!. we are starting the walk on 22nd June 2012 5pm at Ben Nevis and completing the task at 5pm on 23rd June at the bottom of Snowdon.
The crazy team doing this challenge is, Anthony Logan, Michael Logan, Reece Kesson, Paul McGill, Aaron Matheson, Gary Spraggon, Richard Armstrong, Mark Nurdin, Gary Follett, Anthony Bulmer
