Story

On the 11th May 2014, our great friend Brad passed away in a nasty motocross accident. He was a great mate to everyone and his huge smile will be missed every day by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was one of the most genuine and likeable people you could ever hope to meet. On the Sunday that he passed away, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Service attended to the accident, taking Brad and another rider off to hospital. While they tragically could not save Brad, they are an incredible service and their work is much appreciated.

We started building Brad's legacy last year with 873 Miles for Brad, and we raised £4465.40 in his name, keeping the air ambulance flying for nearly 27 hours. This year we want to raise even more than that; keeping the air ambulance in the air for a week or longer!

We brainstormed on things we could do to extend Brad's legacy and came up with the Challenge. Brad was a keen sportsman, and loved PE (especially Football, Basketball and Motocross!) Therefore we encourage every school in Hampshire to join us in this massive sporting effort to extend Brad's legacy, raise awareness and funds for the HIOWAA, and spread sports and boost community spirit in every school throughout Hampshire. The challenge is simple. You pick 1 or more Activities from the options on the right, organise inter-school competitions (at lunch, in pe lessons or after school!) for the sport(s) you choose and send your success stories to us here at the Bradley Hooper Challenge 2015! The catch? All we ask is for each participating student at your school to pay £1 to enter your competition(s), with proceeds being donated through our JustGiving page to the HIOWAA. £1 per participant may seem small, but if you consider the fact that there are 500 schools in hampshire, it goes such a long way!

About the charity

The Helicopter is called many times a day, to attend to road traffic collisions, sporting accidents, collapses and other incidents and these missions are often life saving. It cost £7,500 a day to keep the helicopter operational. Funded by the public, we receive no Government or Lottery funding.
