Story
On the 3rd March 2013 Elliot went for his usual afternoon sleep, but he never woke up. He was just 2 years old. He wasn't ill, just the usual toddler running nose. A virus that could be the common cold or common cold sore virus attacked his brain as he slept. We went from a family of 5 to a family of 4 in a few devastating moments. We went from planning Elliot's 3rd birthday to planning his funeral.
So many people have said that to lose a child is the worst experience a parent can have - why then is there no help or support available? We left hospital with a just a leaflet in our hands - that was our support.
In 2013 Tricia (Elliot's godmum) and I did the Dales Way walk to raise money for Elliot's Footprint - the donations then helped us to raise over £1500 which set us on our way to becoming a charity. Every penny we raise on this new 90 mile walk from the Coast at Tynemouth to the Coast at Bowness on Solway - via the route of Hadrian's Wall - will go to our fundraising efforts for a specialist bereavement worker.
Just £20 will pay for a specialist bereavement worker to be employed for an hour - someone for a bereaved family to talk to, get support and help as they start their journey to try and rebuild their life after the sudden loss of their child. Please donate and help us to make sure that no family is left to suffer alone.
Thank you for your support
