Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In July 2017 I shall be swimming the treacherous Solent Chanel between Portsmouth & the Isle Of Wight to raise essential funds and vital awareness for those living with and those affected by Motor Neurone Disease.
I am swimming in memory of my late mother in law who sadly passed in 2005 from this cruel disease, just 5 months after diagnosis, leaving behind a heartbroken husband and family. MND took my mother in law's speech, mobility and independence along with her dignity and spirit before eventually taking her life.
The swim will be extremely hard! I will have to cross some of the worlds busiest shipping lanes. Swimming in traffic including, ferries, hovercrafts, commercial freight boats and military ships. There are also very strong and complex currents. But I promise I will be training hard over the coming months and preparing myself both mentally and physically for this life changing challenge.
I believe MND is not incurable. It is just underfunded. If we raise the funds to provide the research then one day we will find a cure. I hope this is sooner rather than later so that eventually, families wont have to suffer the horrific ordeal then unbearable loss that we did in 2005.
