We fund vital medical research to help sick & disabled babies & children

Story

On Saturday 25th June 2016, two teams from Aberdeen Alternative Ops  will be taking part in the ‘Race the Sun’ team challenge set in the Brecon Beacons. We will be challenged to cycle 47 miles, climb Pen y Fan (2,907 ft) and canoe the Pontsticill Reservoir – starting at sunrise and finishing by sunset – racing the sun!

All funds raised will go to support the charity Action Medical Research for Children (www.action.org.uk) which is a UK charity funding vital research to help sick and disabled babies and children.  Despite enormous progress in medicine, all around the UK today there are hundreds of thousands of sick and disabled children who need our help.  Research is key to helping save lives, yet surprisingly, medical research into conditions that devastate children's lives is poorly funded.

By taking part in the Challenge, we aim to raise funds that will go towards helping find ways to reduce premature birth, to support children facing a lifetime of challenge caused by disabilities and to help develop treatments for rare and incurable diseases.
