Story
As part of the team meeting this year, we have teamed up with FOCUS Birmingham for an afternoon of fun and fundraising.
There are around 29,000 people in Birmingham living with sight loss, many with little or no support to help them overcome their disability. Focus Birmingham is a specialist charity providing expert support, advice and information to anyone in the Birmingham area affected by sight loss. They also work with people with other disabilities. And because sight loss and disability affects family, friends and carers, they work with them too. Focus Birmingham are the foremost provider of specialist sight services and their drive, in partnership with Guide Dogs, Blind Children UK and Queen Alexandra College is to further develop their ‘Centre of Excellence’ where professional support can be readily accessed.
In the afternoon of the team meeting they will be running a Focus on Sight activity session which will be a fun and informal way to highlight how sight loss affects peoples’ lives. In teams you will be set a selection of tasks to complete which will test your ability to perform simple tasks with reduced visibility. The work they do is really fantastic as you will discover on the day.
In return for their efforts in running the event it would be great if you could please donate generously. Take a look at their website to find out more about what they do http://www.focusbirmingham.org.uk/
There will also be collection buckets on the day if you wish to donate in cash and this Just Giving site shall stay active for a few days after the event.
Thank you.
