Thanks for visiting our JustGiving page.
Michael Noon, Darren McQuade, Keith Jackson and Sean James from Chesterfield FC Community Trust are aiming to run 3 races throughout August and September 2015. They are running to raise funds to refurbish the Sensory Room at Ashgate Croft School, which is the largest Special Educational Needs School in the area. The races are the Chesterfield 5K (31/08/15), Chesterfield Half Marathon (20/09/15) and the Nottingham Robin Hood Marathon (27/09/15). Michael, Darren, Keith and Sean have never ran in a competitive race before, they have only recently started training and to date have only ran 3 miles in one go which makes the task even greater!
The sensory room will give the students of Ashgate Croft School a place to go where they can experience, soothing sounds, moving colours and shapes, bubble tubes, fairy lights, images created by disco balls, and walls covered in adventure where you can touch, feel and explore a myriad of senses. The benefits of sensory play for children with special educational needs are well known, providing an oasis of relaxation which is vital for children’s emotional health, sensory rooms also encourage hand and eye coordination, and the development of social and language skills.
Thanks for your support! Any donation you can give will go to a great cause!
