I am doing this for Prisoners Abroad a charity close to my heart. In 2009 they helped me when I returned to the UK, they supported me in getting housing, accessing the medical care I needed and helped me re-adjust to the British way of life.

Prisoners Abroad are a fantastic charity that help people imprisoned overseas, offers family support and helps people resettle back in to the UK.

Welfare: Prisoners Abroad is the only charity in the UK providing survival grants to pay for the basic essentials needed to keep people alive- items as simple as clean water, food and a blanket. They also supply vitamins and provide an emergency medical fund.
A donation of £7.50 would help someone get food and water for a week.

Families: Their family support service is again unique; they are there for families the whole way through their loved ones’ detention. We keep the pieces together, We hold their hands, provide a listening ear, help them navigate foreign legal systems, speak on their behalf and provide hands-on practical help such as family support groups.

A donation of £14 could pay for a phone advice session to and help a family member in distress

Resettlement: Many people return home with literally just the clothes on their back and their resettlement team helps people get back on their feet. The support covers everything from finding emergency and long-term accommodation, to food parcels and helping someone find a job. Prisoners Abroad provide practical help to reduce the risk of reoffending and to successfully help someone re-join society and rebuild their lives.

A donation of £12 could buy a jumper and jeans for someone returning to the UK
