HELP US MOVE TO NEW PREMISES
Fundraising for ADDISS
Story
ADDISS desperately needs your support and your immediate
help as well as support from the ADHD community. We are under extreme pressure
to move out of our premises. The Government have recently changed the law which
allows owners of office blocks to convert their office to expensive housing
without the need to go through the complicated planning permission that used to
be needed. We have been given 6 weeks to move out. This is alongside of another
200 businesses. Naturally 200 businesses seeking rental at the same time has
led to a problem securing affordable accommodation. Even high rent offices are
scarce.
ADDISS is the only National Charity for ADHD. We have been in our present building in the heart of Edgware for eight years. We have been given just 6 weeks to move. Other businesses outside of the office block appear to have known about the change of use months before we did. Currently as of August 7th we have about 3 weeks left before we need to move out.
We have nowhere to go as yet but we continue to search. If we do not find an office we will need to put everything into storage until we find premises. The cost of removing the contents of the ADDISS offices once is £4000. If we move into storage first then we will have to pay this again when we find new premises. In the meantime we will have to find a small temporary office as a solution in order to keep the national helpline running. We will then be paying rent on a small office and rent on storage facilities while we continue the search for a new home for addiss.
Moving the phone lines and setting up the IT in the new office comes at an additional cost as we have to have new telephone numbers as well as diverting the old number.
As a charity we are always on an extremely tight budget just getting through the day to day events. We do not have a contingency budgeted for such an unexpected and expensive situation. We desperately need you to help us to continue serving people with ADHD. Please be as generous as is economically possible and donate to help us.
