Story
You're all welcome to come join us on 1st August between 11am and 8pm at Coleshill Cricket Club (http://coleshillcc.com/) to watch 4 teams battle it out for the dream of lifting the Dave Dunn Cup...but its also a great opportunity to help Craig Saunders (a member of the club) to raise some money for a charity which is close to his, and therefore our, hearts. See below for why it's so important.
The Dave Dunn Cup was set up as an annual event in memory of a Coleshill CC member of the same name who played for the club for 25 years and died leaving behind a wife and family.
This year Coleshill will be holding the event to raise money in memory of the sister of Craig Saunders (Nicola Morgan) who died at the age of 44 in November of last year from bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma). She leaves behind a husband and three young children who live in Essex. Nicola was always full of enthusiasm for things, she loved life and spending time with her family to whom she was devoted. She showed immense courage and retained her humour even during the most difficult of times.
Money raised throughout the day will go towards AMMF which is a charity that raise money specifically for cholangiocarcinoma, and who invest the majority of their funds into researching cholangiocarcinoma. The importance of raising funds and awareness of cholangiocarcinoma is particularly important as the symptoms associated with it present themselves at a very late stage when the cancer is already significantly advanced. This form of cancer is also one that has seen an increase in patients. Their website can be found here (for further information):
Granted, this isn't an intrepid adventure, a climb up the highest mountain, a marathon, a triathon, an ironman or anything else that crazy sportsmen do but it will be a fantastic family day at an incredible local cricket club with events and entertainment for all the family.
There will be an awesome raffle, an inflatable slide, fully licensed bar and a BBQ during the day and, of course, high quality cricketing talent on show.
