We provide free medical care to some of the world’s poorest people

Story

So....I've quit my job and I am going to live and work on a boat!!

I will be working as an unpaid Physiotherapist providing rehab for adults and children after orthopaedic surgery on a floating hospital in Benin, West Africa.

The Africa Mercy, is the world’s largest charitable floating hospital. With 75% of the world’s population living within 150km of a port city, we can reach people who live with little or no healthcare in some of the poorest parts of the world.

All the crew on board are volunteers and as a charity they rely on the support from family and friends at home to help with fundraising to ensure the continual running of the hospital.

I will be organising a Promise Auction in October.....details TBC.

I would really appreciate any support, as Tesco claims 'every little helps'!!

Mercy Ships is an international charity that provides free medical and humanitarian services to the people of Africa using its hospital ship, the Africa Mercy. In the developing world, lack of access to basic health care can have horrific results. Mercy Ships freely provides relief to the forgotten poor - saving lives, improving quality of life and restoring hope. The Africa Mercy is the world's largest non-governmental hospital ship - staffed with volunteer doctors, nurses, engineers and agriculturists - that visits ports in some of the world's poorest countries. Doctors, surgeons and nurses onboard provide free medical and surgical services, while off ship teams help local communities develop sustainable water, sanitation and education programmes.
