Story
Thanks for visiting Adoption UK's JustGiving appeal page.
Adoption UK's Reaching Their Full Potential fundraising appeal is a project that will ensure better educational outcomes for adopted children, providing them with the support that they need to flourish and reach their potential.
- 80 percent of adoptive parents tell us their child needs more, or different, support in school than their peers due to their early life experiences.
- Only 49% of adopted children reached their expected levels at key Stage 2.
- The educational attainment of adopted children in 2013 was significantly lower than the whole Key Stage 2 population.
This year there has been significant progress with the announcement that Pupil Premium would be available for all adopted children in education in England. But how will head-teachers and their teams decide how best to spend this, ensuring the needs and development of the child are at the forefront? What support will children in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland receive?
We will be working with schools and local authorities to increase their knowledge and understanding of the needs of adopted children and identify ways of supporting parents, teachers and children - be it via webinars, training, helpline or one to one support.
