Story

Hi Friends,

I am getting more involved with The Nginn Karet Foundation for Cambodia. I set a goal of raising $5,000 within 6 months (hopefully an easy goal).

To tackle this big goal, I'd like to invite you all to a series of events spanning 6 months.

Alain-Virak's events:
* Event 1 - THURS 3/28 - "Lunch for a Cause" ALL DAY

@ Sharky's Woodfired Mexican Grill (10119 Riverside Dr, Toluca Lake, CA)

(last year we raised about $150)

If you eat out for lunch, please eat at Sharky's and 15% will go to NKFC!

* Event 2 - SAT 3/30 - "Celebrate for a Cause" 8p-2a

@ Saint Felix (1602 N Cahuenga Blvd, Los AngelesCA 90028) between Selma & Hollywood, parking is all around

Come eat & drink, the good owners of Saint Felix will donate a portion of sales to NKFC!

* Event 3 - TBD

The Nginn Karet Foundation for Cambodia (http://nkfc.org/) aims to promote sustainable development and the provision of basic needs for a self-reliant rural community through a range of projects.

NKFC works with 2,334 families in 14 villages of Banteay Srei district.

Their latest efforts are concentrated on their rural School of Dance and Music, teaching over 150 village children the traditional arts to keep it flourishing.

The school now, Le Conservatoire SAR Samdech Reach Botrei Norodom Buppha Devi, has the royal patronage of HRH Princess Norodom Buppha Devi, sister of the current King of Cambodia, Norodom Sihamoni.

They are bringing a small group of dancers for their 1st ever U.S. tour to perform at the Cambodian New Year Celebration (CNYC) to be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at El Dorado Park (Area 3) in the City of Long Beach, California.

The purpose of this trip is to interact with the Cambodian/American communities and to plan and fundraise for a larger tour in October.

May peace be upon you,
Alain-Virak Karet

This grass roots charity helps the most impoverished people of Cambodia who suffered the atrocities of the Khmer Rouge. The charity helps over 15,000 people made up of more than 3,000 families in 8 villages. Please see www.nkfc.org for more information. The Nginn Karet Foundation for Cambodia exists in order to help village people in Cambodia to secure their basic needs, through a partnership program. Focusing initially on one village, the Foundation supports village people to secure their basic needs, including primary education. Primary health care systems are supported so as to enable mothers to produce appropriate food for their families, based on locally grown cereals, vegetables, fruit and fish. The provision of potable water and the control of local water supplies to village fields for crop and livestock production is a priority. Ownership of the program lies with the village people. The Foundation respects and tries to promote the traditional culture on which village life is based, within the context of sustainable development for basic needs.
