Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm not the world's most enthusiastic runner and before I was offered the opportunity to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon for RBLI I hadn't intended on ever running more than some casual miles on the weekend. However, the RBLI is a great charity with an incredibly worthy cause that is close to home for me. I hope you consider supporting the RBLI by contributing to our fundraising goal.
The RBLI is a national UK charity that supports the British Armed Forces Community and those affected by disability, health conditions or social welfare. The charity was set up in 1919 to provide treatment, training and support to service personnel who had served in the Great War. It continues to support the Ministry of Defence particularly through the Vocational Assessment Program for wounded, injured and sick personnel in the Army Recovery System.
I have a deep respect for the armed forces and for all those who have made sacrifices to serve and protect their country. This includes my cousin, who served multiple tours as an officer in the British Army in Afghanistan during most of my twenties.
I believe that supporting charities like the RBLI is a great and meaningful way to help give back to those who have scarified for us. For this reason, I jumped at the chance to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon when asked and I am really optimistic we can raise our fundraising goal of £1,500.
Also, as many of you know Ele and I have a little baby boy due on the second of January, so I thought if I was going to run for charity, I better go ahead and do it before our little dude arrives and my life is flipped upside down.
Thank you so much!
Alex
