My name is Alex Reid and I will be raising money for the charity The Newbury & District Cancer Care Trust. The Newbury & District Cancer Care Trust offers help to patients and families living with cancer and other life limiting illnesses. They are a local community charity able to respond quickly to the needs of local people. The Trust works closely with Volunteers, Clinical Nurse Specialists, the Charles Clore Day Therapy Unit and Medical Professionals to improve the care and support offered to patients. I’ve chosen this good cause as 2 years ago I lost my mum to a brain tumour. In her final weeks the hard working people at Newbury & District Cancer Care Trust looked after her and made her as comfortable as possible. She stayed in one of the rainbow rooms at Newbury hospital, a home from home accommodation, designed for people with life shortening illnesses. To raise money for this wonderful charity I will be shaving all my hair off! I’ll be doing this on 7 March. I’m hoping to raise £1000 otherwise the hair stays!
