Story
In an incredibly and some may say disappointingly predictable move, I decided to "do" something for charity and for my mum, the day she died. The predictability and general un-impressiveness continues with the choice of this something - a half marathon. The good news is that a number of buddies have decided to join me in my quest for charitable mediocrity:
Chris Goddard, Will Lowry, Alex Ritchie, Arthur Hughes-Hallett, Charlie Laurie & Archie Robertson
And fortunately, some of this merry crew will be running the full marathon. Most chiefily, Captain Ritchie of the Coldstream Guards and Arthur H-H.
So on August 20th all of us will line up in Reykjavik to run various distances - all in the name of raising money for cancer research. With the hope that one day, we'll get better at curing pancreatic cancer! So please donate to our team generously!!!
And to be fair, as those who know me well will attest to, running long distances has never really been my thing. So, a half marathon should do, at least until next year.
I hope to make this an annual event to raise money for a just cause!!
In the spirit of my mother - it is all about leading a life well lived. As such, the criteria for the event are:
1) That is totally inclusive, the event however strenuous should have easier options. Connections with others are the most important thing in life, not miles run.
2) That it should be somewhere that WE all want to go, not somewhere we have to go!
3) That it should be for a good cause!
