Story
On July 9th this year I will be having my Barmitzvah.
This is the biggest event for a Jewish boy at 13 as he enters his journey into adulthood. I am very privileged to not only be able to have this Barmitzvah, but also celebrate with all my family and friends with a big party on the Sunday evening.
Since some Jewish boys are not able to have a Barmitzvah celebration, I have decided to take part in a charity 5k Fun Run in which I will be raising money for a boy my age called Osher Hajaj, who is from an underprivileged background in Israel, as part of the Jewish Child's Day 'Twinning' programme. Unfortunately Oshers family can’t afford to have a Barmitzvah celebration so I have been ‘Twinned’ with him, thanks to the JCD who have matched us with similar likes, dislikes and personality.
The Jewish Child's Day charity was founded in 1947 to help European children after the II World War but now looks after all children suffering with mental and physical disabilities, illness, neglect, abuse, financial hardship.
The Gung-Ho (Seriously) Fun Run takes place on April 30th 2016 at Heaton Park in Manchester and is a 5K course with inflatable obstacles along the way. Please come along and cheer me on!!
I would be so grateful for any kind donation possible for my run so that when I meet Osher at the JCD Centre in Netanya in June, I will be able to present him with the money I have raised, so that he too can have a celebration of his Barmitzvah.
Thankyou
very much
