We help disaster survivors to rebuild their lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

International Disaster Volunteers (IDV) was founded in September 2008 by Andy Chaggar, a survivor of the 2004 Asian tsunami.  Some of you will know that Andy is a close friend of ours and was the partner of Lester's sister, Nova.  Sadly, Nova and another very good friend, Ben Watts, did not survive.  Andy has dedicated his life since that day to helping others, who survive similar natural disasters, to rebuild their lives and communities.  IDV is focused on long-term sustainable recovery and you can find out more at www.idvolunteers.org.

IDV are currently undertaking a full renovation of the Shree Bal Shiksha school, located in Sindhupalchok district in Nepal.  The school was badly damaged and it's 600 kids are now having to learn in an unsafe environment.

They urgently need funding and I know you guys are the people to make this happen.  £50 will buy a desk and bench for 4 children and £7 would provide a child with all the school supplies they need.

I've therefore decided to raise some money by running my first half marathon, on the 30th October, and if you've ever seen my knock-knees (!) you'll understand the challenge ahead of me.......but it's nothing compared to the challenges the survivors of disasters face.

Dig deep my friends x
