Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are running the Great North Run this year for the Lifeboat Fund, which supports the work of the RNLI. The Fund was founded 150 years ago by a Group of civil servants who wanted to donate a single lifeboat to the RNLI. Since then, the Fund has provided the RNLI with 52 new lifeboats, helping volunteer crews to save over 4,700 lives.
The RNLI rescues 23 people on average every day, from over 235 lifeboat stations around the coast (and on the Thames). Its volunteer crews and lifeguards rely on donations to continue their vital work of saving lives at seas.
As some of you may know, we've been running 10ks for a while now, and while Peter has done a couple of half marathons, this will be my first time running so far! As I've hit 40, now's the time to push things a little bit further, and help a great cause in the process!
