Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am taking up the challenge of walking the kilt walk in Edinburgh on the 18th September this year to raise money for Facing Africa. As many of my friends know I have not always been that into exercise so this will be a big challenge for me! I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to volunteer with this amazing charity and want to raise as much money as for them as I possibly can.

Facing Africa is a charity that sends groups of medical volunteers out to Ethiopia twice a year to undertake surgical missions for NOMA patients. These teams of volunteers include highly skilled surgeons, anaesthetists, junior doctors and nurses who provide complex facial reconstructive surgery for these patients. In addition to the surgery, Facing Africa also encourages local doctors, surgeons and nurses to attend lectures and presentations done by the volunteers in order to teach them new and better procedures and techniques.

I would really appreciate any donations, no matter how big or small, to contribute to this amazing cause.

And below is a link to an incredible documentary filmed about the charity in 2010 by the BBC called Make me a new face- 'Hope for Africa's Hidden Children'
