Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Wednesday 21st September this year 2016, I will be doing a Wingwalk on an AeroSuperBatics Biplane called the Flying Circus to raise money for the British Forces Foundation. This will involve being strapped to the outside (not the inside!) of the aircraft on a seat mount and flying around in the sky, while the plane moves at speed and turns and spirals in the air. My sister Catherine will be taking part in a Wingwalking experience too, on another plane.  We are both really excited to have the opportunity to do this.  Please read below for the more of the story behind why on the 21st I will be fund raising for the BFF.

The British Forces Foundation (BFF) is a superb charity that works towards boosting and maintaining the morale of the men and women who serve in our Armed Forces. They do this by providing high quality entertainment to troops and other innovative programmes that demonstrate public support for the work they do and the sacrifices they are prepared to make on our behalf.

I would like to raise money for the BFF's Panto Bus project, which will be sending pantomime productions to entertain families in the Armed Forces communities over the Christmas season again this year. These free shows are a wonderful way for the public to show their support for those whose lives revolve around the demands of the military and the exceptional pressures and sacrifices that can bring, particularly at this poignant time of year.

This Christmas, the BFF Panto Bus will travel all over the UK - visiting bases from the top of Scotland to the tip of Cornwall, Northern Ireland and Wales - as well as British bases and their families in Germany. Many of the communities will be those where loved ones are away on deployment over the festive period and the pantomimes provide a welcome distraction.  The BFF pantomimes are in their third year and the tours have grown year on year. More than 40 bases will be visited this Christmas reaching audiences, young and old of up to 300 people a show.

I realise that my fund raising target of £5,000 is an ambitious one, but I want to try my absolute best to pull together with other supporters to see how close we can get to reaching it. If we can raise the full amount, this will go a long way towards providing the funds for five pantomime shows.
