Story
We (mum, me and our Labrador Milly) are kayaking / canoeing 120 miles of the Thames starting on the 9th August 2015 from Lechlade to Teddington for the Labrador rescue trust.
The trust has been established since 1988 and has rehomed over 10,000 dogs since starting. Most dogs come into rescue through marital break-up, illness, death, financial hardship, or because they have retired or failed as working dogs, or found as strays/ become victims of abuse.
The average cost of rehoming and rehabiliting these dogs has increased dramatically over the past 10 years from around £300 per dog to well over £1000 now as more dogs are handed over to the trust with costly medical and behavioural problems. Without the support of generous donations the trust cannot sustain itself as larger rivals take the lions share of charitable contributions.
The charity is run entirely by volunteers who dedicate their time to assessing new homes, picking up new dogs and rehabilitating them in their own homes until suitable places can be found, and without their hard work we would not have our lovely (but very naughty) Labrador Milly who will be joining us as our mascot!
We hope that you can dig deep to help this great cause and thank you in advance!
