Story
Joanna and I will be taking part in Northumbria's youth and sports volunteer project to fiji this June. The project combines assisting local teachers within rural primary and secondary schools, organising one to
one tuition, leading kindergarten classes, pioneering extra-curricular activities and youth clubs and implementing grass roots sports development initiatives, which include daily PE classes and sports outreach workshops. Primary and secondary schools in Fiji, particularly those in rural areas are understaffed and severely lacking in basic materials. Every volunteer is asked to fund raise £600 for charity. 100% of this funding is used to support development aims for children in Fiji, including the purchase of educational resources and sports equipment for rural schools, funding large scale building projects including creating school classrooms and installing fresh water and improved sanitation for schools and funding youth outreach schemes, rural kindergarten schools, health awareness initiatives and sports development.
