On Thursday the 5th May this year I went for my regular Mammogram check and thought nothing of it. Within a few days I was sent an appointment for the 19th May to go the the Breast Clinic in Cardiff for some further investigations. These investigation proved to be devastating to myself and my husband as the result was that I would require a mastectomy. The operation was arranged for 27th May and I elected to have reconstruction at the same time. Thanks to the wonderful care provided by everyone involved before and after diagnosis I have come through so far remaining positive and thankful. The image shown was taken just days after the operation. The operation took place at Royal Glamorgan Hospital in the very caring hands of Mr Eifion Vaughan-Williams who I thank immensely along with all the staff and nurses. Cwm Taff Health Board and Royal Glamorgan are fund raising in order to provide a specialist breast care unit through their Charity \\\"Giving to Pink\\\" and I would like to undertake BTS to help and would ask all to support and donate in order to help others fight and be strong.

Since the Mastectomy and subsequent further investigations I have been advised that I will now require chemotherapy which starts on the 9th August.  Therefore I will look to undertake Brave The Shave at the end of August between treatments.  The date is 28th August at The Victoria Inn Sigingstone from 6:00pm onwards.  In addition we will look to raise some extra funds through quiz/darts comp.  Please come along and support us.
