"Every office or factory has a comedian, or so they say! So, the Gingerbread centre are giving the workplace funny man or woman a once in a lifetime chance to take the spotlight. They're hosting a six week comedy course culminating in a gig in front of a live audience."
When Siobhan was telling us all about this at a recent business networking meeting, all I heard was that the Charity supports some of the most vulnerable families in the Stoke-on-Trent area. Immediately I decided that I wanted to do something to contribute. So, my hand was up and I'd volunteered to take part in this fundraising event before I'd really processed what it was I'd have to do! Later, when the enormity of what I'd volunteered for kicked in and, having spent the afternoon with my stomach feeling like it was competing in a gymnastics competition, I decided that I would still like to go ahead and take part.
I often work with client's facing major challenges in their lives. I encourage them to achieve things which, when I first meet them, they doubt they can achieve for themselves. And I'm regularly inspired by their incredible successes. It's important to me that I remember what it feels like to be in that position, so now and again I take on a project that I find challenging and a little bit scary. While I'm doing it, I also make sure that others will benefit from my discomfort! The families that Gingerbread support are facing some major challenges and so me being a bit scared of making a fool of myself, is a small price to pay to give them the support they need.
Please help me to raise the minimum of £250 needed to take part in this fundraising challenge. If I exceed the £250 target, then I'll provide everyone who donates, with video evidence of my performance . . . go on, give us a couple of quid . . . you know its worth it!
