Story
For a topic and a charity that is constantly ignored and spoken about insensitively.
No one likes talking about it, it's an awkward, uncomfortable and painful topic. But it is one of the most common offences in the world, so much so that approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men are victims of sexual assault, including rape in the UK and Wales every year.
It has been proven that it is extremely unlikely for victims of this kind of abuse to search for help during this difficult time. It's heart renching to me, to think that there are so many people going through hell in their own minds because of an experience like sexual abuse. It is sickening to think that all these people suffering such pain have no one to confide in, and feel like they don't know where to search to get the help they need.
It is something that I am passionate about bringing to your attention, this suffering is all around us, and pains so many people, every day. Likely to be someone you know, a friend, family member, anyone. But it is never brought to your attention.
So let's talk about rape.
Because who else will?
