Story
Both myself and Neil had been tested for a match and while we briefly considered waiting for a potential donor from the national register, we opted for a family living donor as all the evidence shows that a family living donor offers the best results longer term.
Our idea was to plan the operation to give Ana the best chance of recovery before facing her GCSEs in April but while the operation was a success, Ana’s post-op recovery was blighted by issues with the rejection drugs which saw her back in hospital and the family fearing the kidney was being rejected.
Four months on from that operation, despite a traumatic experience and both myself and Ana being quite unwell, we are now recovering well. We have begun (with the help of friends and family) organising our Champagne Charity ball where we aim to raise £50,000 for The Kidney Wales Foundation who do some amazing work supporting families like ours living with Kidney Disease. If you are interested in attending the event, or if you are able to support by providing a auction or raffle prize do get in touch with us at amandascharityball@gmail.com
As a family we'd like to take this opportunity to thank you to you all for your tremendous support, we are hugely grateful. We'll look forward to celebrating with many of you on the 17th of September.
