As a farmer myself I know farming can be a lonely and unforgiving way of life especially in the uplands where we will be walking. Behind the beautiful and dramatic landscapes are many stories of hardship and struggle for the people who work here. The recent Winter flooding and devastation caused by it just highlights the difficulties many farming families can face with a lifetimes work potentially ruined in a few short days of adverse weather. The financial and personal strain of such events can be overwhelming and this is where the help provided by RABI is so important in providing a network of financial and pastoral support to farmers their families and anyone associated with farming. This support can be as simple as help with household bills following an illness or unexpected bereavement, through to short term grants to cover unexpected business hardships and all the while being there for the agricultural community in times of need.
