Story
After 15 years of unmarried bliss, Smo has eventually cracked under the relentless pressure and agreed to make an honest man of me. Despite dark mutterings of merely being influenced by HMRC and a wish to be the one to make the decision to turn off the life support machine, I think secretly (very secretly!), Smo’s happy about it too. Having recently down-sized and moved to Newlyn, we have absolutely no more space for any more ‘stuff’ and we would be so happy if instead of buying us a wedding present (if indeed you were thinking of doing so!), you would make a donation to Money for Madagascar (MfM). Smo and I visited this beautiful, amazing country in 2008 and became instantly beguiled and captivated by the people, the wildlife and the scenery. Since then, Gemma has volunteered at Akany Avoko (a children’s home just outside the capital that we support) and we have been back to Madagascar visiting Akany Avoko with Gemma in 2011. Money for Madagascar is an amazing charity that supports a wide variety of Malagasy charitable projects run by Malagasy people – projects that support disadvantaged adults and children and the unique environment.
MfM have identified 2 projects that could benefit from your wedding gifts....
· With your help, La Source special needs school could offer bursary help to children who would otherwise be condemned to a life with no education or opportunities. Your gift could bring hope to a child as they discover the joy of making friends and learning new skills in a school focussed on their needs.
· Also lined-up to share in the joy of Andrew and Smo’s matrimony are the women and infants who live in Toamasina Prison on the East Coast of Madagascar. They currently have very little food, no education, no opportunities and no hope. With your help the children can receive food and education and the mothers can face their problems and train for a new future.
We would be so happy if you would support MfM to continue their amazing work in Madagascar – THANK YOU! Andrew & Smo
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and send a message to Andrew and Smo to tell them you have donated. Many thanks for your gift. It will transform a life in Madagascar.
