Andrew Parker: Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are attempting to complete Tough Mudder on the 21st May 2016 for the Clare Daly Foundation.
Clare was a close friend and I want to do something for her Paul and the Daly/McNally families to raise money, remember Clare and raise awareness around melenoma.

Clare sadly passed away on 7th December 2015 following a short battle with melanoma. Clare was just 29.
Inspired by the bravery and dignity with which Clare faced her illness we (Clare’s family and friends) have set up the Clare Daly Foundation in Clare’s memory, to help in the fight against melanoma.

Melanoma
Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer. It accounts for more deaths than all other forms of skin cancer combined. According the Cancer Research UK there were 13,497 newly diagnosed cases in 2012 and 2,148 deaths. It is currently the UK’s fastest growing form of cancer. It is becoming more and more prevalent in the UK, where it is the 6th most common cancer – with more women than men affected. It is the most common form of cancer in young adults. The most common sign of skin cancer is a new mole or change in an existing mole. If caught early enough early stage melanoma is usually treated easily, typically by removal of a mole. However, if it is not diagnosed until an advanced stage it is a very difficult cancer to effectively treat. Most current treatments for advanced melanoma slow down the spread of the cancer or reduce the symptoms, rather than providing a cure. There is a lot of work still to do to raise awareness of melanoma and develop effective treatments for advanced melanoma.
