Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Most group B Strep (GBS) infections in newborn babies are preventable but it’s still the most common cause of severe infection in newborn babies, including meningitis. It causes untold heart-ache, long-term disabilities and even death. Through taking on the huge challenge of thru hiking the PCT, I want to do what I can to stop this happening to others.
A lot has been written about the nature of walking, and indeed what wisdom may be found whilst doing it. It seems to me there are a few basic qualifications that are needed for this endeavour - endurance, good clothes, good boots, vast curiosity and an eye for nature. Good humour would also seem to be essential.
When you think about it, everywhere is in walking distance, you just need time.
I am fortunate that I can have this time, a rare thing in this frantic world, and I am grateful to all who have allowed me to do this. To help raise awareness and funds for GBSS is also a privilege, and I very much appreciate the help and support from Jane and her team. I hope I can help the charity and am proud to try.
