Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I've decided 2016 is going to be my year to achieve something to be proud of. I am fairly fit but have never been one for outdoor running. I have never competed in any race so what better way to start than with a Marathon! I know I could go out & run a 10k comfortably & with a couple of months training probably do a half marathon in a reasonable time, however a marathon is different. I aim on being competitive & pushing myself to the max. As I write this I am 4 weeks into a 24 week program so this is basically 5-6 months continuous training to reach my peak come race day. More importantly though, I have decided to run this race for charity - The Rangers Charity Foundation. Those who know me best are aware of just how big a part Rangers have played in my life & how much of a supporter I am. Not just myself but it's steeped in my family tradition from brothers, father, grandfather & so on. Seeing the RCF was indeed a partner of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival then I needed no persuasion in signing up. Regardless of your interest in football or your allegiance, the RCF focus on things that touch us all, such as the homeless in Glasgow, Yorkhill hospital, Alzheimer's Scotland, Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, Armed Forces etc. They are also the only Scottish club & one of only six clubs worldwide who are an active partner of UNICEF. So if I could kindly ask you to donate even a small amount to my JustGiving page, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance & wish me luck.
