Story

 THE ULTIMATE ROAD RALLY CHALLENGE

 8,500 MILES - 115 CARS ALL BUILT BEFORE 1975

Claudine Bloom and Andy Twort are competing in the 2016 Peking to Paris Endurance Car Rally. As the name suggests, the start is in Peking (Beijing) on 12th June and they will reach the finish line at the Place Vendome in the centre of Paris on 17th July, after 36 days of gruelling competitive motorsport. They will travel through vast expanses of the Gobi Desert, where they are camping for ten nights, over the mountain ranges and plains of southern Siberia and finally the exciting mountain passes of the Alps. The most important 'crew' member is AMY AMAZON. Amy is a 1965 Volvo Amazon which has been specially modified for the event. This rally first ran in 1907 and was won by Prince Borghese.

Claudine and Andy wanted their challenge to benefit a local charity which helps children and families and so they have chosen to support The Leanne Fund.

Established in 2010 following the sad passing of Cystic Fibrosis sufferer Leanne Mitchell, at the age of 21, The Leanne Fund provides special treats/experiences and a range of support services for young people suffering from Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and their families in the Highlands and Western Isles of Scotland. The Leanne Fund offers a unique opportunity for young people with CF and their family to be treated to something special or to do something really special - a chance to create happy memories.

Any money raised from the challenge will be used specifically to fund a new service - ‘Over the Rainbow’ – this special service will be provided only for those in final stage of illness to provide an extraordinary experience or “wishlist”. The cost of an ‘Over the Rainbow’ experience is in the region of £2,500 - the special memories that this helps create are priceless.

Please donate as you are able and help make a difference in the lives of those affected by Cystic Fibrosis.
