Story
Last year I became closely involved with Manchester Aid for Children (MAC) through two very dear friends, who with their Committee, work tirelessly raising money to make a difference to the lives of poor children in Zambia. Many of these children have been infected with HIV and either one or both of their parents have died of the disease.
MAC currently help Lesa Kutemwa, their partners in Zambia, to provide the following:-
- Food and clothing aid
- Assistance with school fees, uniforms and books
- Assistance with health care
- Support for accommodation needs
- Links into bereavement and HIV/Aids counselling services
£15 a month will pay for one child to go to the school that Lesa Kutemwa have founded in a poor township. MAC's ultimate goal is to build a children's home. Please help me to help them to make a difference.
Due to health problems, I have been advised to lose some weight. Why not kill two birds with one stone-taking off the pounds and helping MAC at the same time, I thought? So for the month of May, I will be trying to lose as many pounds as I can and hoping you will match my loss with pounds. It's years since I tried to lose weight-I like my food and generally the more calorific the better! I have set myself the target of loss of a stone (14lbs for the younger ones) in weight, which my work colleagues tell me may be a tall order but I'd rather aim higher to make me try harder. Pay me for lbs I lose, for any weight loss or give me a banker's bonus if I| hit my target. On 1st, 8th, 16th, 24th and 31st May I will weigh in at my local health club on a machine that produces a printed ticket showing my weight-a club member will verify that they witnessed my weigh in. I will provide weekly updates of my progress so please come back and see how I'm doing-and give more money! Give anything you can afford-a lot or a little, it's going to a worthy cause. Those of you who know me well, know that I'm addicted to tennis. I did think of doing a tennis marathon but believe me this will be much harder!!!! Roll on 1st June.............. Thanks for your generosity. Anne
