Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The Association of Santa Chiara is a Salesian congregation in Palermo, Sicily. The Salesians are a religious institute, which was founded with the aim of helping young and poor children. This Association upholds that purpose with a day centre for sports, socio-cultural, and social activities, as well as welfare, education and training, especially for young people, with particular attention to refugees, immigrants and children at risk.
During April 2015, volunteers from the UK, Italy, Taiwan and Malta are going to build a sport and multi-media room for underprivileged children in Palermo. This project will help them get off the streets and into a safe and positive environment where they can have fun and develop skills with other children in the same position.
The fundraising effort includes a 70s-themed disco extravaganza and the office team at 21st Century Building Services are doing a sponsored "Virtual Trip" from Bristol to Palermo. We've been cycling, walking, running, rowing and swimming, working towards each completing the 1841 mile journey!!
