Story
‘If I ever had to run for my life, I would probably die’ was my
starting point when I took a New Year resolution to the next level. In January 2011 I have decided to challenge myself and get in shape by training for a half marathon. Since then, I have only been running away from my responsibilities, but 2016 made me realise that the sooner I do it, the sooner I get rid of it. After all, slow runners make fast runners look good.
I am lucky enough to be virtually trained by Aris Necula, a Romanian passionate marathon and ultra-marathon runner that kindly provides weekly running schedules, which I am really struggling to complete. Initially my decision to run the half marathon was purely personal, but has lately developed into a opportunity to help others as well.
Thus, allow me to introduce Liseiux Trust, a well respected local charity with almost 30 years history of supporting people with disabilities. Its work is predominantly focused on providing residential and supported living accommodation for adults with learning disabilities. It also provides services within its disability information resource centre (DIRC) which is open to all disabled citizens and their careers in the local community. Support is provided in all areas of disabilities issues, ranging from information on welfare benefits, disability discrimination, housing, debts and general care and support issues. The overall aim of the organisation is to actively encourage disabled people to maintain their independence and become respected members of society.
While I will put all the effort on very early mornings, through runs and sad nutrition schedule, it would make it much easier if you help me reach my target and support Lisieux Trust.
I run to raise awareness, to encourage their rights within the society and to put an end to any triple layer chocolate cheesecake that dares to defy me.
