Story
We would like to spread our challenges over 2 days to
maximize the potential of turning our £100 into £1000. Our proposals are as follows:
To turn our £100 into £1000 we will ask our sites and supply
chain (as well as friends and family) to sponsor us in our challenges. We will also liaise with the sites to
encourage fundraising. Our challenges will be held on the 17th and 18th of March.
Day 1-Glasgow:
Y people is a Scottish based charity that works with
vulnerable 17-25 year olds who have been affected by homelessness, offering them accommodation and counseling support. We felt this charity would be good to link up with as they do similar work to CRASH, therefor we be linking up with ‘Y People’ charity and volunteering for the day.
Day 2-Edinburgh:
Take to the streets of Edinburgh for a day to ‘walk a mile in their shoes’; the challenge of being homeless for a day this intended to help raise awareness of homelessness. This will help us to understand the problems homeless people face on a daily basis. We will leave our phones and wallets at home as we attempt to last the whole day.
We feel this is a challenge in itself and will give us a better understanding of what it is like for the people that we are trying to help. We will depend on donations and sponsorship again for this challenge and we will make leaflets which we will hand out to the public, outlining what our challenge is and the important reasons why we are doing it.
We hope that this challenge will really raise people's awareness of homelessness and that it will showcase how many people in Glasgow and Edinburgh are in need of food and shelter. Throughout the challenge, we will aim to consistently bring awareness back to CRASH and the good work they do, as well as promoting any of the participating companies who have helped us with donations of food and sponsorship.
