Story
We started with Newbury to Paris in 2014; in 2015 we went further, cycling from London to Amsterdam, now, in 2016, we're picking up the baton and leaving Amsterdam on 16th July to start the 3 day, 200 mile journey to our company hometown of Leverkusen. It promises to be a physically demanding, but rewarding, challenge.
Over the last two years we have been extremely proud to support the amazing people at Naomi's House & Jack's Place; we've raised over £50,000 and that money has gone toward making a difference to the lives of children and young people with life limiting or life threatening conditions. This year, we've decided to support 'Together for Short Lives' the leading national charity that speaks out for all children and young people across the UK who are expected to have short lives.
Sadly, 49,000 children and young people are living in the UK with health conditions that are life-shortening or life-threatening—and the number is rising. That’s one in every 270 children—the equivalent of one in every school. Whilst the diagnosis cannot be changed, charities such as Together for Short Lives help families make the most of the time that they have together.
It's difficult to comprehend how hard it must be for families to come to terms with the news that their child is likely to die young. It must be every parents worst fear that their child will die before them. The level of support those families need is tremendous, and yet the hospices that are so vital to providing that support rely enormously on charitable donations to operate. That's why we're doing what we are doing, that's why we are determined to raise as much money as we can to help these inspiring people.
So, if you can, please support our cycle - you'll be helping to make a valuable difference to the lives of people less fortunate than us.
Thank you.
