We help formerly homeless people to rebuild their lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in memory and celebration of the life of my husband Jim, who passed away suddenly on 18th October 2014. He has been taken from us far too fast, far too soon.

Those of us, who were lucky enough to have Jim in our lives, knew him as the most gentle of gentlemen.  He had a generous spirit, was kind in word and deed, warm, funny, intelligent and full of bonhomie.

He also had a keen political conscience, from the miners’ strike to the recent wave of public sector cuts; there was never any doubt which side he was on!

For these reasons, I have chosen Emmaus North East for charitable donations made in Jim’s memory.  This is a charity that Jim supported.  It helps people that have suffered homelessness and social exclusion.  It is guided by the principles of community and solidarity - and I can't think of a more fitting tribute to Jim.

Please help us to develop the first Emmaus Community in the North East, where formerly homeless people will be able to live, work and find support to rebuild their lives. We have recently acquired premises in South Tyneside and we urgently need funds to help us complete its refurbishment.
