Story
In September 2016, John and I will be participating in the Thames Bridges Trek - a 25km zig-zag walk across 16 of London's historic bridges.
We will be doing this to raise money for Thrive, a UK charity which helps people change their lives through gardening. The walk passes Battersea Park, where Thrive is based in London - my office!
I see first hand how the projects we deliver have real benefits for our client gardeners including:
· Better physical health through exercise and learning how to use or strengthen muscles to improve mobility
· Improved mental health through a sense of purpose and achievement
· The opportunity to connect with others – reducing feelings of isolation or exclusion
· Acquiring new skills to lead a fuller and more independent life
· Just feeling better for being outside, in touch with nature and in the ‘great outdoors’
As for all charities, the funding environment remains challenging so any donations received really do enable us to help even more people of all ages to experience the confidence, learning opportunities and enjoyment that social and therapeutic horticulture can bring.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
