Story
Beech Class (a group of 10 and 11 year-olds in London) are campaigning on Homelessness because we feel very strongly that homelessness in London is a tragic issue. We discovered (through our own research) that, as well as all the homeless men and women on the streets, 1 in 25 children are homeless in the UK and this number rises to 1 in 10 in London. This is unacceptable! We need to
make a change!
All children have the right to a clean and safe environment,
healthy food and clean water (Article 24 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. ) They also have the right to have their basic needs met – including adequate shelter (Article 6 of the UNCRC). We are determined to help children and adults access their rights as we are active global citizens!
To raise money and spread awareness, we will be holding a
Sleep-Out and will be sleeping in cardboard boxes outside. Afterwards, we will change into our school uniforms and will go straight into lessons, where we will write to the local newspapers about our experiences.
Sponsor us today to help us change the world!
Thank you!
Love from Beech Class
