Please can you help support our special little girl, Amelia Jane Butler. Her school are holding a sponsored walk on the 7th July called 'Two Million Steps' with all the pupils and teachers involved. This is to raise money for a sports hall for the children and to upgrade the therapy pool and physiotherapy unit at the school which Amelia uses most days. A lot will be walking from Whitworth back to Tor View school and others will be doing alternative routes depending on their own abilities.
As most of you know Amelia struggles to keep her balance when walking because of her own disabilities. She has ataxia so this is very tiring for her, which then causes another set of problems with her seizures due to a rare form of epilepsy called Ohtahara syndrome and STXBP1 which is a gene mutation. Along with this she has other disabilities that she has to battle with on a daily basis.
With these things in mind, Amelia has been set a more realistic target to walk two laps of the school grounds without using her chair or gait trainer. Even though she will fall, like she always does, her determination will shine through and she will get back up and carry on showing what a tough cookie she is.
Amelia is a very happy little girl who loves to be outside and explore surroundings so this is the perfect challenge for her to take part in.
